CREATe Fashion Report “Fashion Micro – Enterprises in London, Berlin and Milan”

19 october 2016

CREATe Report, AHCR Funded - Goldsmiths University of London

This CREATe report is a first phase of a research carried out by Professor Angela McRobbie and her team of Goldsmiths University of London. The aim of the research has been to investigate the labour process of fashion design in the context of working lives of young, mostly independent, designers in three cities: London, Berlin and Milan.

In detail the report focuses on the kind of start-ups or micro-enterprises which have come into being in the last decade.

Interest of the authors was whether these were the outcome of pro-active urban creative economy policies or if they were more self-organised initiatives, a reaction to the crisis of the euro-zone of 2008 and the relatively high rates of graduate unemployment.

This report has been developed within the CREATe project funded by AHRC programme, based in Glasgow University, Law School, with Goldsmiths University of London as a partner.
