"Support to Women Entrepreneurs – of Many Kinds and for Many Reasons”

The article, considering the positive connotation of the entrepreneurship in Sweden, provides an understanding and comprehensive overview of how and why entrepreneurship and self-employment for women can be a solution both to problems in different policy areas and to problems of different kind.
The article takes its starting point in industrial and commercial policies and includes regional development, the labour market and employment, equality between women and men and the reorganisation of the public sector - entrepreneurship is supported in all these fields and special attention is given to women.

The analysis starts with the Bacchi method of asking questions such as “Whose is the problem”, with the aim of uncovering a gender bias in society and politics. The findings of these analyses is combined with some concepts used in organizational theories.

The main two evidences are both empirical and theoretical one.

The empirical one is that support for women as entrepreneurs is used to solve numerous different problems and the connection between the problems presented and entrepreneurship as the solution is often loosely coupled and also gender biased. The theoretical one is that both gender sensitivity and organizational perspectives are necessary for understanding.
